What Anger Can Teach Us

Sometimes in life, it is just unavoidable, someone is going to do something that makes you angry.  People will hurt one another or act unreasonably.  It can become easy to get sidetracked with justifying our anger.  We feel that we have been wronged and we want the validation from others that yes, you are good enough and this person did something bad etc.  When we get caught up in the web of anger is when it becomes detrimental to our health and the well-being of those around us.

Has someone ever really p****d you off and for the rest of the day your energy sinks lower and lower, because you are so focused on how this person or event or whatever it was brought you down?  Anger can drown us or it can be turned around and made into a catalyst.

We will never be able to control the actions of others - and perhaps that makes us even more angry.

After all, anger is simply another version of fear.  We fear being hurt, fear losing control, fear being defeated etc.  What we do ultimately control however, is how our fear controls us (or not).  We can take that anger and turn it into a catalyst for something good - or we can take the anger and let it fester into more negative feelings and hostility.

When we see injustice in the word we can go back and forth with others, get angry, blame everyone else etc. but that does nothing to solve the problem.  It doesn't make the person you are mad at less of a jerk. It doesn't make the situation you are mad at less unfortunate.  Rather than waste time compounding misery, you can make an empowered choice to direct your energy towards different things. This is how solutions are found - not in being angry, fighting or blaming.

I can't change what happened and I can't change other people, but I can always change myself.  I don't have to give in and be swept away by negativity.  I can take that same energy that I waste being mad and do something positive for the world.  Stewing in anger never leads to productive solutions, all it does is polarize and bring progress to a grinding halt.

Next time you get mad, don't get down on yourself for it.  Get mad as hell! then take that energy and redirect it in ways that are going to lead to something better.  This is where your true power lies.  Does this mean be a pushover and never stand up for yourself etc? Of course not, but learn to do so from a place of love and respect and you'll find solutions are easier to come by.  People who are angry and defensive have a hard time persuading others to see their side of a situation - as granny used to say "You get more flies with honey than vinegar". If you come at others with hostility or defensiveness, their natural reaction will also be hostile and defensive.

You can be assertive without being aggressive.  This is where people seem to blur the line and then problems escalate.

Anger and fear are not your enemies - they are your friends when you know how to learn from them and use them properly.

Life is short - don't get mad - get busy manifesting what you DO want instead ;)

If you are angry at a problem, focus on the solution, not being mad at the problem itself.  Instead of being "anti-war" - be "pro-peace".  Instead of having a proverbial "war on whatever", disengage and be proactive.

Anger that seeks solutions is anger with a purpose.  Anger that festers and boils like an infection is what will kill your spirit.

Make Law of Attraction a Habit - and watch it work regularly!

Sorry for the long hiatus! I have been super busy with some new projects and with classes so I haven't had the time to keep up with the blog posts the past month.

Today's topic - developing good self-motivating habits for Law of Attraction

Everyone has them - habits that become so routine you don't really think about them, but do them regularly as if on autopilot.  Brushing your teeth, showering, exercise etc. are all examples of habits we get into that just become a normal, routine part of our daily lives.

Turning law of attraction practices into new habits is a great way to ensure they will begin to work for you in your daily life.  Every morning when I wake up I consciously shift my thoughts to positive things - even if I am facing some challenges that day I focus on being grateful for having what I need to meet them head on.  I also focus on positive goals for that day and make a short list of things I want to accomplish that I can cross off.  (seeing progress is motivational and boosts energy levels)

Starting off the day motivated, with a "can do" attitude helps the whole day flow smoother.  If you get out of bed thinking "oh man I'll never get it all done or I have to do all this stuff I don't want to do etc.." it will drag you down and lower your vibration and things will not flow smoothly.  Being positive gives you great energy, and more energy means more ability to get things done.

Each day start your day in ways that develop positive energy.

Before you get out of bed spend 5-10 minutes focusing on positives - motivate yourself.

When you get up move your body and exercise.  Everyone can make time to exercise in the morning, even if it's only a few minutes.  Do yoga, do aerobics, do whatever but move your body.  This gives you more energy and makes the body and the mind work more efficiently.

Make a daily "to do" list and cross things off so that you see you are making progress.

In the evening before you go to bed - take time to relax and meditate for a bit focusing on what you are grateful for and what you accomplished.  Really allow yourself to feel gratitude for the day you just had and how wonderful it was and how much you are looking forward to tomorrow.

These are not just "nice ideas" they need to be formed into a routine.  Developing positive habits helps to ensure more overall peace of mind.  Those who are peaceful and feeling positive manifest more of the "good stuff" they want to see in life.

Creating a Sanctuary - Instantly Raise Your Vibrations & Improve Your Energy

We all know that like energy attracts like energy - for that reason it is very important that your home has at least one area that is serene and allows you to detach and feel at ease.

We just recently redid our bedroom with beautiful soothing colors, a comfortable bed, nice draperies and accented it with nice pillows, candles, a Buddha statue and other items that invoke a sense of serenity.  Having this sanctuary gives us a place away from the kids where we can go to take a breather when we need to.  It also gives us a lovely location to reconnect with each other.

Ideally all rooms in your home should be free of clutter, function well and feel inviting - however those of us with small kids and pets know that is almost always easier said than done ;).  Having one room that is "adults only" - be it a bedroom or a den etc. is a great way to have a serene space that you can keep clean and welcoming.  Sometimes a five minute escape to your home sanctuary is all that is needed to instantly elevate your vibration.

When you design your room declare it to be a place of peace and restoration and that once you cross through that door you will no longer focus on anxiety, worry, anger and other life draining things and instead focus only on relaxation, inspiration, etc.

This is a great way to get your vibrations up every day - so invest in your space and make it your own.

For our space we chose blues that remind us of our favorite Ocean hideaways.  The soft whites/greys with the blues instantly calm and relax us.  The wall art we are about to place is all ocean/island themed with soft muted colors.  This room is so relaxing now and as soon as we walk in we feel instantly at peace and "cozy at home"

Our next project will be the dining room which is already nice but we are wanting to recreate it in a way that is very welcoming and open to our friends/family and gives them a sense of ease and love when they enter our home (our entry way goes straight into the dining room area).

Choose an area of your house that is your own and finish that first - then next focus on the area you want to use that welcomes others and makes them feel the high vibrational energy that your home embodies.  :)

Choose Your Words Wisely

Why place such importance on the words you use?

Words are extremely important yet many of us are not truly conscious of the words we use when conveying thoughts to ourselves or via our own inner dialog.

Words are what form your thoughts - and thoughts are what drive your feelings.  If what you think and/or feel is negative, chances are very likely the words you are choosing are negative as well.  Choosing your words and changing your dialog are absolutely key to working with the universal law of attraction (and others) to manifest what you desire.

This is a good place to remember the important lesson of focusing on what you do want.  A great way to do this is to be mindful of your inner dialog.  When you catch yourself thinking something negative for example - "I don't want to get sick" (it is cold/flu season after all ;) ) Instead of thinking about what you don't want - focus on what you do and what is.  "I'm so happy and grateful that I'm feel well today" or "I want to stay healthy" These are both positive alternatives and have higher vibrations than the original thought - "I don't want to get sick".

There is only room for positive or negative in your focus at any one time - both cannot exist in harmony.  That doesn't mean negative thoughts don't have usefulness - in my last post I discussed on why you should focus (briefly) on what you don't want.  That is of course, to fully understand what you do!

Try this Exercise:

Today be mindful of your thoughts and when you pick up on negative key words in your thoughts like "don't" "can't" "shouldn't" etc. stop briefly and reshape your thought to come from a positive perspective and refocus on what you DO indeed want to experience.

Words are very powerful - in fact one of my original projects that I started over 10 years ago was a project called "Daily Power Words" and in these exercises, positive goals and ideas were centered around a one word Mantra of sorts.  This practice each day allowed me to grow in ways I couldn't imagine at the time and it was a great catalyst on my path.  I share many of these exercises for free at my Daily Power Words website.  I am also linking to a video below that features one of these so you can get an idea how they work and exactly how motivating and powerful something as seemingly simple as words can be.

Law of Attraction How To - You Should Think About What You Don't Want!

Focus on what I don't want?

What??? I can hear you thinking ;) ....

Yes you should! and here's why :)

Ok so perhaps the title is a tad misleading ;) ... but not entirely untrue.  I'll explain

Often people are unaware of what they truly want.  When they think of an ideal partner for a relationship for example they may have vague general statements about what they want.  He/she should be nice - well DUH! ;) ask this same person to define "nice" and they may struggle a bit putting into words exactly what they mean.  If you can't express it then you certainly aren't going to be able to efficiently manifest it.

For this example, to get a very clear and precise idea of what you DO want you need to spend some time focusing on what you don't want - perhaps what you experienced in past relationships that was negative.

Take a sheet of paper and on one side (this doesn't have to be for relationships it can be for an ideal job, or whatever goal you want) Anyway, on the left put "Don't want" or "Won't work for me" etc. and make a list of these things.  On the right side of your page create a "clarity" or "manifest this" column and focus on the true opposite of what you don't want.

Don't be vague either "Mean" and "Nice" are not good comparison contrasts ;) A good example might be on the "Don't want" side to put someone who speaks to me disrespectfully and on the "clarity" side - "someone who is wise and respectful enough to show restraint before speaking - who can speak with true honesty and candor without being insulting or rude"  This is a very clear idea of what you truly want - not just some vague generalizations.

Remember the key to manifesting is to understand thoroughly, in painstaking detail, what you want to create.  Sometimes the key to doing that IS considering what you don't want! - but only as long as it takes to help you determine what you do!

Blessings and Light

Better Use Law of Attraction with These 3 Quick Tips

Ok, I wanted to keep today's post short and sweet and focus on a few things I've heard over and over, common themes that seem to keep people kind of struggling with manifesting.

Before I get into these quick tips it's important to remember that learning to work with law of attraction (and the other universal laws) is a process.  It is something that takes time and dedication - just like it does when you say start eating properly to regain your health.  They say "diets don't work" and the reason that is, is because diets are a fad, something temporary you do for awhile and then when you reach a goal you go right back to your old ways.  A "lifestyle change" is what is embraced by people who lose weight and get healthy and keep it up long term.

The same premise applies to Law of Attraction - there isn't just some quick things you can do for awhile and then revert back to your old habits and expect it to keep working for you.  You have to change the way you think and act and you have to do it for life.  There I said it - it requires a big commitment, but in the end it is SO worth the effort you put in.

Now for those 3 quick tips

When you visualize or focus on what you want to attract - focus on what you truly want to attract.

I'll use the example of money here again because it's a big huge stumbling block for so many people.  You don't want money - what you want and what you should be focusing on are the things that you feel money can provide you - security, freedom, choice, abundance etc.  Focus on those energies, align yourself with those higher vibrations and you will allow money to flow to you.

Once you've decided what you want to focus on - ask yourself how do you truly feel about it?

Are you passionate enough about this desire to truly change your behaviors and attitudes long term? Can you really pour all your heart and soul into this goal? If not, chances are you may need to tweak your goals a bit.  If you can't see making lifestyle changes to accommodate reaching the goal chances are you don't want it enough.  Many people say they want to quit smoking or want to lose weight - but they don't make the choices and changes necessary to do so.  Are you being honest - is the passion truly there to take some risks and put yourself out there and really make an effort?

Finally, and this one kind of ties in with the one above the law of inspired action applies.
When you want something you must take action on your ideas and do so without wasting time.

You can't wish for something and expect it to fall into your lap.  You must visualize, tweak the plan, get passionate and then act as though you already have what you want to have - act as though you are already what you want to be.  Then take actions to get yourself there.  One way to do this is to push yourself in new directions, try new things.

You want a million dollars you say? Ok prove it.  Sit down and brainstorm business ideas or product ideas.  Tap into your inner inventor or businessman/woman.  Formulate your ideas and take steps every day to tighten your focus.

Universal laws are all about trust in your higher self, the universe, and directing your energies in ways that facilitate that faith.  Fear is the absence of faith and fear is the robber of dreams.
